Arrival In Australia

The Fijian Rugby Union team arrived in Sydney by air this morning. The opening match of the Australian tour will be on Saturday, against North Harbour, at Sydney. The first big game, on May 22. will be against New South Wales at the Sydney Sports Ground.
During their 14-match tour, the team will play in Sydney five times and appear in four states.
Members of the team average six feet in height and 13st 91b in weight. The tallest man in the team is the winger, Ulaiasi Radike, who is 6ft 4in. The heaviest is the vice-captain, 16st Joni Tabaiwalu. Tabaiwalu said on arrival today: “The boys are fit, and rearing to go. We are extremely confident. We have been working out on a new machine which has improved our tackling. We will have a hard-hitting, hard-tackling team as well as a fast, open one.’’
