N.Z. Shares Weaker On Stock Exchange

Twice as many losses as gains were recorded in business on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. Australian shares also showed a weakening tendency’.

Loan and agency shares were weak. N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative ordinary and B preference shares lost a further 6d. National Mortgage A and Wright Stephenson were also easier. North Auckland Fanners improved.

National Bank of N.Z. were firmer, but A.N.Z. Bank and Commercial Bank eased. Australian Consolidated Industries, B.H.P. and Woolworths were again firmer. Kauri Timber, 1.C.1.A.N.Z., and G. J. Coles shares and rights declined further, and Mount Isa shed 6d of recent gains.

Turnover, particularly of Australian shares, was well above recent averages.
