AVIATION SHOW
Postponement For Year
The Pacific air exposition which had been considered for the Christchurch airport in February and March of next year had been postponed until 1963, the chairman of the airport committee (Cr. A. R. Guthrey) told the City Council last evening The Civil Aviation Administration had agreed to a postponement, he said. Government support had not been obtained yet, but the administration might be able to make a strong recommendation to the Government. In a letter to the council, the administration said that Christchurch was probably the most suitable airport in New Zealand, and in principle it was prepared to support a proposal for an exposition.
It seemed that a series of flying displays during the exposition would be possible. The administration said an early meeting should be neld to discuss the proposals. The council agreed with the committee that Mr E. G Beckett, the Canterbury Public Relations Officer, should be appointed organiser of ’he exposition.
