Cerebral Palsy
Sir, —Mrs Oakley’s letter should awaken the sensibilities of us all to the dire need of a home or hostel for those of our community who are in no position to help themselves and cannot be cared for outside mental institutions. Their dependence is for physical disabilities. Were the details of many such cases known to the public /they are not known, for private and personal reasons), responsible persons would be moved to actioMpn their behalf. Progressive development has been accomplished for adults in Dublin in suitable accommodation. Should young persons be separated from their families for lack of adequate suitable accommodation here? Does education and care cease at or before 21? I enclose £5 towards the cost of the needed establishment.—Yours, etc., FOR GUIDANCE. May 17, 1961.
[The donation has been forwarded to the Adult Cerebral Palsy Society.— Ed., “The Press.”]
