Traffic Offence Attitude
(NJ!. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 16.
"The whole tragedy of our traffic slaughter lies in the attitude of the people,” Auckland’s Chief Traffic Superintendent (Mr N. Lake) said in an address to Parnell businessmen last night. "Generally speaking, people do not look upon a traffic law violation as a criminal act or anti-social conduct.” Mr Lake said a conviction for drunken driving brought nothing like the social censure that accompanied one for "simple public drunkenness.”
