Table Tennis COUNTRY TEAM CHOSEN

Match Against Town

Five who have represented Canterbury, and one other pro-vincially-ranked player, are included in the strong Country table tennis team which is to meet Town in the annual match at the Lakeside Hall on May 27. Malvern and Mid-Canterbury have the best representations in this team. E. G. Drewltt, a regular provincial representative in 1958, will lead the Country men’s team, and he will be supported by consistent players in S. A. Swanson, M. Boulton, A. J. Hewitt, and J. H. Rich, and the promising S. Bennett. Miss B. Taylor, top player in the Country women’s team, has represented Canterbury for several seasons, as has Miss Y. Hart. Miss Hart is the present Canterbury under 21 title holder. I Others Include Miss M. Mac Kay, ranked tenth in the province lasi season, and Mrs T. Swanson, who last year played for Canterbury against West Coast. The juniors will be headed by Miss J. Rich, successful in both senior and junior representative matches last season. B Watkins and Miss P. Jordan are others who have been among the province's leading young players in recent seasons. The Country teams will be:— Men—E. G. Drewltt (MidCanterbury), S. A.
