ROAD DANGER COMPLAINT
Avonhead Area Drain
A deep drain in Avonhead road from Merrin street to Waimairi road was a danger to road users, the Waimairi County Council said in a letter to the Christchurch Drainage Board. It asked that early consideration be given to piping the drain. The drain was not entirely new. as there had been an existing roadside drain which was deepened to provide an outfall from a low spot in the side channels, the works committee reported to board last evening The work was done at the council’s request, the council h-aving installed its =ide channels without anv reference tn the board regarding an outfall. The board’s proposals for the stormwater outfall in Avonhead road had been submitted to the council las* Sentember, but no comment had been received. The cost of pining the drrin was estimated at £4OOO. The board agreed tb’t it' chairman 'Mr F. R. Price' 'hould discuss the pronosal with a representative of the council.
