HALF-SISTER TO HYDROGEN

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 15. The New Zealand breeder, Mr W. R. Stead, made a special trip to Scone. 200 miles north-west of Sydney, today to buy two brood mares at Kai Ora Stud sales. Mr Stead paid 1200 guineas for the mare Channel Sound, a half-sister to Hydrogen. He also bought the mare Susa for 850 guineas. Today 73 thoroughbreds from the stud were sold for an aggregate of 86.090 guineas, an average of 1179 guineas. Four stallions sold for 16,000 guineas. 42 brood mares with foals at foot realised 45.540 guineas, and 20 brood mares (dry) brought 19,500 guineas.
