ANTARCTIC BOOK

New 7 Edition Soon

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 16. An up-to-date version of the New Zealand Antarctic Society's book. “The Antarctic Today.” will soon be forwarded to a publisher, according to a recent decision of the society's council. “The Antarctic Today” was first published by the society in 1952, 1000 copies being printed and sold. The new edition will be completely revised and up-to-date. Such was the popularity of the first edition that it was translated and copied by the Russians—even to illustrations. A copy of the Russian version is held at the Antarctic division of the DJS.I.R. Although the new book wil’ have largely New Zealand scientists and explorers as contributors, several overseas sources will also be used. Grant To Boy Seonts.—A grant of £2 2s was made to the Canterbury Boy scouts' Association at Monday evening’s meeting of the Lyttelton Borough Council.
