Halswell Rubbish Collection
Old sinks, barbed wire, spring mattresses and an old whitebait net were among the rubbish collected by the Halswell County Council last Saturday. The collection was made to enable householders in the Halswell township area to get rid of rubbish not normally taken by the regular collectors. “It was well worth while and everyone seemed to be pleased,” said the Halswell County Clerk (Mrs R. M. Ballintine). “The men worked for seven hours and filled their truck up three times, but I think that if they had not piled rubbish so high they would have filled it four times,” she said. A similar collection will made by the council in Tai Tapu on Saturday.
