Death Duties

Sir, —Mr Barclay s reasoning does not seem very sound. If. as he says, death duties affect only 10 per cent, of the population they are not likely to make much difference to "all these millions they are nibbling from the public.” presumably to pay the extra cost, mainly wages, of running the country. He overlooked that the 10 per cent, can only sleep in one bed (while alive* or ride in one motor-car, and if by sruch discouragement (as the following comparison will show) outside capital avoids this - country then it is going to have some effect on employment.
