Appointment Of Mr W. S. Otto

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 15. The appointment of Mr W. S. Otto, of Auckland, as a member of the board of directors of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand has been announced by the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake). “Mr Otto is well known for his interest in monetary and economic affairs and has undertaken considerable research in these fields.” said Mr Lake. “It gives me pleasure to announce that he has agreed to accept appointment to the board of the Reserve Bank. Mr Otto’s extensive knowledge and experience will be put to good use in this appointment and will be of considerable benefit to the Government and the country.” Mr Otto fills a vacancy on the board left by the death of Mr J. S. McAlpine, of Auckland, who died earlier this year. Mr Otto is 51. He was educated at Te Aroha District High School, Seddon Memorial Technical College and Auckland University. He is a fellow of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and bolds the degree of bachelor of commerce. He is at present general manager of Dominion Breweries, Ltd. For many years he held executive office in various school organisations.
