READING HOUR FOR CHILDREN
Service At Kaiapoi Library
The story of the adventures of a small boy with a young visitor from Mars is a particular favourite during the children’s reading hour at Kaiapoi Public Library. says a report from the Kaiaooi Young Wives' Group which organises the hour. The session is held on three mornings a week, and the groups are of all ages. "The difficulty of showing the nictures to all the children was overcome to a large extent by having the small children in the front, the bigger ones being quite content to hear the story,” says the report. Encouragement is give® the children at the end of the hour to select books to take home, and where the family does not already borrow from the library the child-en are given a card The librarian. Hometnakers’ Group.— The Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. E. M. .Joyce) spoke to members of the Homemakers’ Group of the Catholic Women’s League at their meeting recently and described his overseas tour and visit to Pope John. The meeting was held to celebrate the twelfth birthday of the group and the league choir entertained with a group of songs. Mrs C. Bradley sang several solos.
