CAMBRIAN SOCIETY

The May social of the Cambrian Society of Canterbury, held on Saturday evening. was sponsored by Mrs Ernest Rogers. The programme was presented by Mrs J H. Cocks and her concert phrty. Solos- were sung by Mrs Ngaire Wilson, Miss Mary Scott, Messrs P. Caithness and E. Rogers. Violin solos were played by Miss Romola Griffiths and Mrs C. Hunter. The accompanist was Mrs Cocks. A vote of thanks to the artists was proposed by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manning).The president of the society (Mr J. G. Parry) welcomed Mr and Mrs O. PietonJones, Mr and Mrs E. Morgan, and Mr and Mrs Thompsett, who have all arrived from Wales recently.

Harmonic Society.—A social afternoon was held in St. Andrew's Lounge recently by the Christchurch Harmonic Society Ladies* Auxiliary. Members were welcomed bv the president (Mrs D. E. Wilson). Mrs R. A. Pashby gave elocution items, and Mrs R. H. Williams vocal items, accompanied by Mrs J. P Stubberfield. Mrs G. W Dudman spoke on her life in India. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs G. W. Morrow.
