WESTLAND TRUCK OPERATORS
Re-engagement When Work Available
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. May 15. Commenting upon the position of truck operators in South Westland, the resident engineer for the Ministry of Works in Greymouth (Mr J R. de Lambert) said today that it was the usual procedure to engage or dispense with operators through the West Coast branch of the New Zealand Road Transport Alliance. In the present instance, he said, notice had been given that some trucks w-hich the Ministry had been hiring would not be required when the work that they were at present engaged upon was completed. Mr de Lambert said there was no work immediately ahead for the operator*, but as soon as it became available again they would be engaged. ‘
