Dividend Reduced

MELBOURNE, May 13 Gordon and Gotch (Australasia). Ltd., has cut its annual dividend from 20 per cent, to 16 2-3 per cent, for the year to March 31 last. Directors stated that trading results in the second half of the year were “reasonably satisfactory.’’ The final dividend of 5d a share, equal to 8 1-3 per cent., will be paid with the halfyearly 4 per cent, on preferences, on June 23. The final dividend follows a 5d interim paid in December last. In the previous year the company paid an interim of 6d and a final of 6d, making 20 per cent, for the year In their interim report to shareholders last November, directors stated that while turnover for the half-year to September 30 was higher, the ratio of expenses increased. In the year to March 31 1960. profit eased back from £347.251 to £312.327, and the 20 per cent, ordinary and 8 per cent, preference dividends took £267.910. The company operates throughout New Zealand and Australia as publishers, booksellers and wholesale suppliers.
