Elderly Man In Path Of Competitors

(N2. Press Association) BLENHEIM, May 15. A gust of wind caused his bicycle to veer inthe path of the cyclists, the inevitable happened and down came three of the racers, M. Meyer, B. Manning. and C James, together with the elderly gentleman in a tangle of bodies and bicycles.

Two of the cyclists. Manning and James, were admitted to hospital, neither, fortunately, seriously injured. . On Saturday night they had a visitor to their hospital beds. It was the elderly gentleman from Amersfoote. who apologised profusely for “getting in the way ” The cyclists, true sportsmen. dismissed the whole affair as part of the game and have decided to repair the elderly gentleman’s bicycle for him.
