Waimakariri Drowning

Mr S. Orchard, the father of one of the men drowned in the flooded Waimakarir river on Saturday morning, found his son’s body at 8 a m yesterdav. It was in the surf about 100 yards downstream from where the Pieton is stranded near the mouth of the river. Mr Orchard was searchin’ the north bank of the rivet close to the bar when he found the body of his son. Lawrence Earl Orchard, agefi 21. single, a io'ner. of 21 Akaroa street. Kaiapoi The search on the Kaiano’ side of the river and the beach to the north was continued yesterday by Constables J. J Highsted and I E. Harris. The beach south of the river was searched bv Constable J. Thompson, of Belfast.
