Petrol Tanker And Car Collide

After an articulated petrol tanker and a car collided in Winters road, Papanui, about 2.30 p.m. on Saturday the tanker careered over a ditch and into an empty field. The driver of the car, lan Arthur Shrimpton, of 65 Rookwood avenue, New Brighton suffered head injuries. He was taken by a St. John ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital, but after treatment in the casualty department was discharged. The fire brigade was called to the accident in case of fire.

Katipo Spiders

Large numbers of the deadly katipo spiders were found on the Patea beach last week. A resident caught 20 and many were found by high school students who were planting marram grass on the beech. Many of the spiders were found under timber and boards lying in the sandhills. No-cne is reported to have been bitten —(P.A.)
