Australians Tour N.Z.
(N.Z. Press Association! AUCKLAND. May 14. Thirty young members of an Australian Christian Endeavour party, which arrived in Auckland in the Oriana on Thursday for a threeweeks’ goodwill tour of New Zealand, left Auckland for Hamilton by bus this afternoon. Most of the party, which consists of 20 women and 10 men aged between 18 and 37, preached in Auckland churches today. More preached tonight in seven Hamilton churches. The youngest female member of the party. Miss Noelene Davidson, aged 18. a customs official, of Melbourne. said she was too busy being a Christian to have time to rock ’n' roll. “I have nothing against it but I would far prefer to be taking part in our activities,” she said. “I am too busy cycling or playing badminton to join hotrod or motor-cycle clubs,” said David Murray, aged 19, a florist of Warnambool, Victoria. The leader of the party is the Rev H. Norman Pell, of Melbourne. He combines full-time work as national Australian director of the movement with playing Australian rules football for a local team.
