School Milk
Sir, —I most emphatically agree that it would be far better to divert all school milk, to be dried and sent to these poor children in Asia and other countries. I live near a school and I have seen milk left in crates at the gate not used, to be collected by the milkman when he left the next morning's milk. What happens to this? I would like to see every wage-earner in this country give just Is a week for only one month to be spent on dried foods—milk, fruit, and cereals, to be sent to these poor little souls who would be glad to have what is often wasted here. Give them food and let them know’ w'here it comes from and I am sure they would be our friends for ever. —Yours, etc, MQTHER OF ONE. May 10, 1961. Private Signs On Roads Sir,—Once again service stations and other businesses are placing advertising signs on footpaths and streets. If all businesses placed such signs outside their premises a serious position w'ould arise. Is this practice now permitted by the traffic department?—Yours, etc., EFFICENCY. May 10, 1961.' [The City Council’s traffic superintendent (Mr G. P. Kellar) said: “In all cases where advertising signs at service stations, etc., are placed on footpaths and streets and cause obstruction, their removal has been ordered.”]
