ACTIVITIES OF TRAVEL CLUB
Many Speakers During Year
“Many guest speakers froth various walks of life have given us much pleasure with their ’ talks on the widest variety of subjects. both grave and gay,” says the annual report of the Canterbury (New Zealand) Travel Club. A great number of artists also spared their time for musical entertainment. Social activities of the Travel Club included a cocktail party, afternoon tea for the New Zealand Opera Company, a picture evening, a buffet dinner, and a Christmas party, says the report. Two children have been sponsored through the Save the Children Fund. “In addition to helping with street collections for Poppy Day and the Plunket Society, the Travel Club also helped with a special collection made by the British Sailors’ Society to raise funds for equipping recreation rooms for sailors,” says the report.
