OUT OF THE SAND.—Australian Peter Thomson blasts from a sand trap on the edge of the fourteenth green during the second round of the Houston classic golf tournament last month. Thomson went past the hole but sank a good putt for his bogey. He ended the day with a one-over-par 71 and a 36-hole total of 136 to lead the field at the half-way point. The event was won by Jay Hebert, in a play-off with Ken Venturi.
