Committee Formed
(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 12. A special committee to tackle problems facing trotting in the North Island was set up at a meeting in Auckland today of delegates representing all North Island clubs. Representatives of Owners’, Trainers’ and Breeders’ Associations and the North Island Horsemen’s Association were also present. Mr C. S. Thomas, president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference, presided. ■ The committee is: Mr R. J. Rolfe (North Island vicepresident of the Trotting Conference), president; and Messrs Bridgens, V. C. McPhail. W. Kane, P. Jones, R. Newcombe (totalisator clubs). W. Peart (nontotalisator clubs), H. S Barry (Owners’, Trainers’ and Breeders’ Association), and J. K. Hughes (North Island Horsemen’s Association). The meeting was held at the request of the Trotting Conference to discuss problems that have arisen in the North Island mainly as a result of night trotting and centralisation. It was decided on the motion of Mr R B. Dickson, seconded by Mr A. Guy. that the special committee give consideration to a fund being established from such levies on clubs as decided by the committee to provide stakes for additional slowerclass events. Motor-Cyclist Injured.— Leg Injuries were suffered by Neil Benjamin Terris, of 17 Bailey place, Spreydon, when a motor-cycle he was riding and a car collided at the corner of Tuam and High streets at 2 p.m. yesterday. He was treated at the casualty department of the Christchurch Hospital.
