Sterling Up £L7m

Sterling and other exchange held by the Reserve Bank rose £l.7m to £ 11.1 m in the week ended May 3. There was no alteration in holdings of gold or overseas investments. Trading banks' deposits rose £4.6m but the banks had to borrow an extra £7.5m to maintain their statutory minimum reserves. Advances to the State fell to £2OOO while the State's deposits rose £4.6m.
