Rugby NEWLANDS’ MATCH
Hopwood May Be Out Of S.A. Side

One of South Africa’s top forwards, D. J. Hopwood, may not play in the international Rugby match between the Springboks and Ireland at Newlands tomorrow.
Hopwood was reported to have pulled a muscle in training.
A. Malan, the Springbok captain. was forced to withdraw from the side, when he pulled a leg muscle 10 days ago. J. T. Claassen will captain the team and Piet Van Zyl will fill Malan’s place in the side.
Claassen captained South Africa in the first two tests against the French Rugby Union in the Union in 1958. He will equal the record of C. Koch of 22 test appearances in this Newlands test. Ireland’s only new “cap” is the centre three-quarter K. Houston. The teams are:—
