AIRPORT PARKING.—This plan shows the provision being made at the Christchurch airport for a public car parking area to hold approximately 400 cars. Entry and exit will be controlled by automatic gates. To enter, motorists must put Is in a mechanism, which is at the driver’s level and which opens a gate. By running over a rubber pad line, cars leaving the parking lot open the exit gate. The staff car parking area will cater for more than 100 cars and will have a bicycle shed. It has been designed for workers in the terminal area. The engineering workshops have their own staff car parking area. Work on the parking area is well advanced. and it is hoped to have at least half of it in operation in July.
