Discussions In N.Z.

(N.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, May 12. The commanding general of the United States Continental Army (General Herbert B. Powell) will have discussions with New Zealand Government Ministers and defence chiefs of staff during his visit to Wellington on May 16. General Powell is visiting New' Zealand from May 1-4-16 primarily to attend the anniversary services marking the Battle of the Coral Sea, in Auckland. He will make official calls on the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and the Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre). During the afternoon ne will meet the Chief of the General Staff (Major-Gen-eral L. W. Thornton) and will later have discussions with the heads of the three New Zealand armed services and the military adviser to the Government (Major-Gen-eral Sir Stephen Weir). A special guard of the regular force cadet school. Waiouru. will honour General Powell when he leaves Wellington Airport for Australia in the late afternoon. The band of the Wellington Regiment will also parade.
