Region Picked In Waikato Hurdles
"The Press" Special Service
AUCKLAND. May 13. Two miles and eight flights through the heaviest ground are likely to test the best of the runners in the Waikato Hurdles at Te Rapa tomorrow. Region is one most In favour and the chances of Count Lin, McKenzie and San Diego are also rated highly. Wet weather during the last day or two lias brought the
Takanini gelding Craddock into firm favour for the first leg of the double, the President’s Handicap. It is when the going becomes very wet that Craddock excels and the chances of his having the conditions right to his liking look bright indeed. The second leg, tiie Stewards' Handicap, looks open. Glen Count, Don Palatine, Relight, Disorder and Wakatere are five of the form candidates and Starboard is another: Another interesting event will be the Vercoe Steeplechase, in which Contract will be trying for his second successive win over country.
