N.Z. ANZAC PARTY
Report On Visit To Australia (NjS. Press Association) THAMES, May 11. Mr W. A. Kelly, leader of the 1961 New Zealand Anzac delegation to Australia, said today that the three-week tour had been outstandingly successful.
Members of the 50-strong contingent had participated in Anzac Day ceremonies in Sydney, Brisbane. Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, and Perth. In each city the New Zealanders had been alloted a place of honour. The delegation received a magnificent welcome and this continued in sub-branches and clubs of the Returned Services’ League throughout the tour. It was evident that members of the delegation were the recipients of overwhelming goodwill as representatives of New Zealand generally. Mr Kelly said that he would submit a full report on the tour to the Dominion executive of the R.S.A., and would comment in this report on the Australian R.S.L. clubs their sources of revenue, activities in sports and youth organisations, welfare services, and membership.
