THE SITALA, THE FIRST OF TWO 74,000-TON OIL-TANKERS ordered in France for the Shell Group’s fleet. She is shown entering port during a test of the petroleum dock facilities at Europoort, the new extension to Rotterdam harbour opposite the Hook of Holland. The ship discharged 34,000 tons of crude oil in nine hours. The Sitala is 859 ft long, and has a single five-bladed screw of 20ft diameter giving her a service speed of about 16 1/2 knots. There is a helicopter landing deck aft of the bridge house. The ship has a complement of 50.
