LON-DON, May 10. The Axe, a 100-7 outsider, won an exciting duel with the favourite. Aurelius (15-8) in the 10-furlong Newmarket Stakes at Newmarket today in a time of 2min 7.Bsec.
The Axe. forcefully ridden by H. Carr, won by a neck from Aurelius, the mount of the champion jockey, Lester gottPrimus, a 0-2 chance, with D. Smith in the saddle, was third, six lengths back.
