Weaker Market For N.Z. And Australian Shares
Both New Zealand and Australian shares tended to weaken in business throughout the Dominion yesterday. Almost three times as many falls as rises were recorded. A. S. Paterson, which had an isolated sale at 30s on May 3, fell back to 295. Donaghys, new, were Is down in first business since April 24. Norvic Shoes, which rose 9d last week, fell 5d more than the dividend to 20s, ex dividend. Wright, Stephenson convertible debentures rose 3d but the ordinary shares fell Id. A.C.1., W. R. Carpenter and Mount Lyell were firmer. Lower prices were paid for Kauri Timber, Ampol, G. J. Coles, L. J. Hooker and Woolworths.
