PARLIAMENT IN CONGO
Reconvention Expected
(N ZJ* -A .- Reuter—Copynph 11
NEW YORK, May 10.
There were strong indications that the Congolese Parliament might shortly be reconvened under United Nations protection, qualified United Nations sources said tonight.
The General Assembly urged such a step among a number of points in a fairly comprehensive resolution adopted towards the end of its session last month, but until today there had been no word of moves to implement the resolution.
Sources said tonight that Mr C. V. Narasinhan, of India, a United Nations under-secretary who had been having consultations with Congolese central Government leaders, would return to New York on Friday. They spoke of a "significant desire on the part of the central Government to cooperate with the United Nations to the fullest possible [extent.”
I There appeared to be “something of a tendency to move in the direction of convening the Parliament" and the Congolese authorities might formally ask the United Nations to set the stage for this and provide the necessary protection, the sources suggested.
