Train In Two Accidents

A goods train was involved in collisions with a car and a truck in about 200 yards last evening. Only one person was injured in the accidents.

The first accident occurred at 6.46 p.m. when the train and a car collided at the intersection of Amyes road and the Southbridge branch line

The car. which was driven by Raymond John Lloyd, married, of 18 Amyes road, was spun round, and came to a stop 30 yards away. Mr Lloyd suffered chest injuries, but refused to be taken .to a hospital by an ambulance

which was called. He was later admitted to the Christchurch Hospital with internal injuries. The car was wrecked. After details of the accident had been taken by Constable N. Stokes, the train continued towards Hornby, but 200 yards up the line it struck a truck where the Main South road crosses the railway line. The truck, which was travelling south, was spun round, and it struck a stationary car. No-one was injured in the second accident and the truck and the car were not badly damaged.
