Cases In Children’s Court

On two charges of unlawful carnal knowledge, three of theft, and two of breaking, entering and theft, a Boy. aged 14, was placed on supervision for two years when he appeared before Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M., and his associate, Mr W. C. Colee, in the Children's Court during April. The boy was ordered to live and attend school where directed. Three 17-year-old boys were placed on probation for two years on joint charges of breaking, entering and theft, and theft. They were ordered to pay restitution: one boy to pay £ll 17s lid. one to pay £lO 10s, and the third £l2 18s 2d. Two boys and a girl were committed to the care of the Superintendent of Child Welfare: A 15-year-old girl deemed to be “not under proper control”: a 13-year-old boy for breaking, entering and theft; a 10-year-old boy on charges of conversion of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, and driving without lights. Seven boys, aged from nine to 15, were placed under supervision for one year. One boy for breaking and entering and counting-house breaking was ordered to make restitution of Ils 2d. One lad was placed under supervision for unlawfully taking a cycle. Of three facing joint charges of theft, two were ordered to pay £1 restitution each and the third to make restitution of £3 10s. Two boys were ordered to make restitution of 13s 4d each after joint charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit theft.

A 15-year-old girl was placed under supervision until her seventeenth birthday on seven charges of theft. A 16-year-old boy was placed under supervision for two years for breaking and entering with intent to commit theft. He was ordered to live and work where

directed by his supervising officer, and to pay 13s 4d restitution. A 14-year-old girl was admonished and returned to the care of the superintendent on a charge of breaking, entering and theft, and unlawful taking of a cycle. Seven boys were admonished and discharged: One boy. aged 12, for theft, was ordered to pay 14s restitution: a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old boy for assault; a boy, aged 15. for interfering with a motor-cycle; a 16-year-old boy for peeping in a window: a 16-year-old boy for false pretences; a 16-year-old boy was ordered to pay £5 restitution after a charge of wilful dampge. Two 16-year-old boys faced traffic charges. For driving without due eare and having no licence, a boy had his .licence cancelled for a year For speeding in a motor truck, the other boy was fined £5, and had his licence cancelled for one year, and endorsed for three
