Figures Down On Last Year

Diagnosis of 37 cases of notifiable diseases was confirmed in the Christchurch health district last month. Infective hepatitis claimed by far the greatest number, with 23 cases. Pulmonary tuberculosis was confirmed in 11 cases, and leptospirosis, pemphigus neonatorum, and hydatids in one each. Two eases of occupational dermatoses were also reported. The infective hepatitis figure was one lower than in April, 1960, and one lower again than in April, 1959. The March, 1961, figure was identical with that of March, 1960. The total figure for notifiable diseases for April this year was 13 fewer than for April, 1960.
