Seventh Birthday Of Guild

The seventh birthday of the Addington Townswomen's Guild was celebrated recently at an afternoon party. The candles on the cake were lit by Mrs A. Cowlin (treasurer* and were blown out by Mrs L. Coote (secretary*. Mrs R. Johnston (president) cut the cake.

The programme included vocal solos by Mrs R Walker, accompanied by Mrs D law, who also played pianoforte solos: humorous sketches by Mesdames H Muff and G Andrews; and a novelty item by Mesdames R Johnston W Billeliff. R Morrison and A. Stubberfield.

Tributes were paid bv Mesdames Johnston and D. Plumridge to two retiring members. Mrs L. H Woodcock (president for six years), and Mrs C Trusler (committee member for seven years*.

Presbyterian Women Thanked.—ln a brief report presented at a meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery on Tueaday the Moderator of the Presbytery 'Mr C. C. Wilson) moved that thanks be extended to the church’s women's organisation* for their enterprise in holding the recent women s meeting at Knox Church. The gathering had been most satisfactory and an attendance of about 220 had been recorded, he said.
