Man Admits Charges IN Z Pre»> > INVERCARGILL, May 10. A 29-year-old man today in the Invercargill Magistrate’s Court admitted that during the last year he had indecently assaulted eight males, all of them youths aged between 14 and 18. Detective Senior-Sergeant A. E. Leadley said that as well the accused had admitted to the police that he had indecently assaulted males on many other occasions over a period of at least two years, but only eight charges, which related to eight separate youths, were laid. The Court was cleared of the public while Mr E. S. J. Crutchley. SJM., heard evidence. after which he remanded the man in custody until May 19 for a probation officer’s . report, and suppressed the accused's name in the meantime.
Mr Leadley said that the charges were of a most revolting nature. What made the matter even more serious too was that youths who were subjected to the man’s advances had themselves admitted that they indecently assaulted one another on later occasions.
