Ducks Increasing

"We have more ducks on our shooting waters today than for many years, and we have to thank the mallard duck for our salvation,” said Mr E. T. Hubbard at a meeting last evening of the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society. He said that local shooters were very fortunate, as there was plenty of breeding stock. There was also an encouragng increase in the numbers of grey ducks on Lake Ellesmere. Mr G. Mugford said the duck population was gradually building up. “Ducks are definitely on the increase in the society’s district,” he said.
