Steelworkers at Port Kembla, south of Sydney, have contributed £1342 to a fund to enable a 20-year-old girl to go to Vancouver, Canada, for a rare heart operation. The girl, who left in the liner Oriana last night for Canada, is Miss Lynette Walsh, of the Sydney suburb of Wollongong. Lynette, who works at the steelworks, has been saving up for the operation for two years. The money raised wiill fill the amount needed for the operation and travelling expenses.
