The Supreme Court in Christchurch will sit half an hour later this morning as a mark of respect to Mr Justice Shorland, who died recently. Mr Justice Richmond, announcing this in the Court yesterday, paid tribute to Mr Justice Shorland. “Both Mr Justice Macarthur and I think it proper that I should mention one matter in this Court.” said his Honour at the conclusion of a trial hearing. “I refer to the very great loss suffered by the Supreme Court bench and, indeed, the people of this country, as a result of the death of the Honourable Mr Justice Shorland which has been reported overseas. "Mr Justice Shorland sat mostly in Auckland and other ; North Island centres, and tributes will be paid to him in the Supreme Court at Wellington tomorrow and in other North Island centres. “•As a mark of respect to his memory and to his work as a judge of this Court, the Supreme Court in Christchurch will not sit until 10.30 a.m. tomorrow, instead of 10 am. as is customary,” his Honour said.
