Table Tennis DEFEAT OF SELWYN
Second-Round Results
The Selwyn team in the 1 Canterbury Table Tennis Association's A grade competition suffered Its second loss in eight seasons when it was beaten by Wallabies II in the second round of matches. Wallabies II won by 7 matchee to 5. Other teams to win in section I of the grade were Eagles and Wallabies I. N. B. Radford, the brilliant but unpredictable W allabies player, showed his best form to beat both V. N. Brightwell and T. R. D. Flint comfortably. Radford's free-stroking play, combined with steady defence on occasions, was too much for his opponents at this stage of the season. K. F. Stevenson and M. A. Cox gave Radford steady support, each taking one singles and doing bis part in the doubles. Wallabies I had a comfortable 9-3 win over Univenalty 11. although the teams were evenly placed with the contest half completed. K. J. Cassjjiy won three singles in a good exhibition. and J. Lelliott (Wallabies) and G. M. Leech (University) each ' won two singles Leech tost 21-19 In the third game of his exciting match with Cassidy. Mrs J. Shadbolt and D. V. Fisher again gave J. Armstrong solid support when Eagles beat University 11. 10-2. J. A. Dowle was the only University player in form, and he took two singles matches. Armstrong was not extended to win his three singles.
