UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
Nominations For Two Seats
Four nominations have been received for two vacancies on the University of Canterbury Council. Two of the nominations, Mr W. J. Cartwright and Mr C. A. Noble, are for the position of representative of the postprimary teachers on the council, and the other two nominations. Miss R. F. C. Tyndall and Mr E. W. A. Espiner, are for the position of representative of universitv graduates. The returning officer (Mr G. G. Turbott) said that the election would be held on June 5. The retiring members of the council are Dr. D. E. Hansen and Mr D. W. Lyall, who are not seeking re-election. Mr Cartwright is at present chairman of the Christchurch Post-primary Schools’ Council, and Mr Noble recently retired as headmaster of Christchurch West High School. Miss R. F. C. Tyndall recently retired as headmistress of Christchurch Girls’ High School, and Mr Espiner is a master at Christchurch West High School. One candidate will be elected by the post-primary teachers and the other by university graduates who are on the roll of the Court of Convocation.
