EDUCATION IN CHRISTIANITY

Independent Schools

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 9. Independent schools provided the type of education required by many parents for their children and they made a valuable contribution to society, the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent) told the annual conference today of the Association of the Heads of the Independent Schools of New Zealand. An important aspect of the education given in most independent schools was the place they gave Christian education. “I believe that no education is complete without Christian education,” he said “The make-up of man consists of the mental, physical, and spiritual, and whatever his capacities may be in the mental and physical. without a grounding in the spiritual he is a poor man and in fact can become a menace to society. “I would like to see chanels in all our universities.”
