Oil Deposit Assessed

Present indications were that the deposit of oil at Cabawin number one well, at Tara, 200 miles west of Brisbane, was not large enough to justify a commercial operation, the Minister for National Development, Senator William Spooner, said today. He emphasised that it was unlikely that additional information would alter this view. A rough estimate of the cost of development, including a 200-mile pipeline to Brisbane, would be about £lsm. Senator Spooner said.
