May 9 The share market has held up well so far in 1961 and this encourages the hope that the worst of the decline is over, the Melbourne sharebrokers, lan Potter and Company. say in the introduction to their annual review of more than 200 of Australia’s leading companies. Short term reversals apart, they said, “there can be little doubt that Australia's path is onw’ard and upward and the wise investor will share in the advantages of future expansion.” Of the 200 companies listed. Brick Industries. Ltd.. Melbourne. shows the biggest imorovement in price tn the last nine years. The dividend was omitted in 1953 after a setback but in 1954 earninas jumped to 21 2 per cent, on canital and 71 per cent, was paid.
