U.S. Policy
Sir, —John Forster aims .a blow at freedom and democracy. He asserts that democratic leaders are “power crazy." He labours under a delusion. It has been said that “there are glittering prizes for sharp swords” (or push-button missiles'. The English-speaking peoples hold the prize. It is world leadership and supremacy in war. From a “fully armed” viewjoint it would seem that the
“bauble" is not worth the candle. Nature drives some hard bargains. Back-door methods are not tolerated. One civilisation after another has been overrun and sent into a dark-age of chaos and misery because it abolished responsibility and shirked to appeasement.—Yours, etc.
