Transport Board Discussion
Traffic congestion at the I corner of Colombo street and Moorhouse avenue was becoming chaotic, and at peak periods he had great sympathy for the traffic officers on duty, said Mr J. Shankland at a meeting of the works and traffic committee of the Christchurch Transport Board yesterday. Mr Shankland suggested that the committee might wish to lend its support to the proposed flyover.
His experience was that when traffic officers were on duty at the intersection, the position was not greatly improved, said Mr A. J Woodward. With the traffic so dense, it was forced to proceed carefully. The general manager (Mr J. F. Fardell) was asked to consider the plan for a flyover and how it would affect the operations of the board’s buses.
