Holyoake’s Message

(N Z Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 7. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) has sent a message to President Kennedy expressing ‘‘my heartiest congratulations on the great success of Commander Shepard’s flight. It is New Zealand’s confident hope that this venture into space will be followed by further explorations for the benefit of all nations.”

The Prime Minister has also asked that the following message be conveyed to Commander Shepard:—“l express the admiration of the people of New Zealand for your breathtaking feat.”
